Sint Maarten, part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, is a country on the southern part of a Caribbean island shared with Saint Martin, a French overseas collectivity. Its natural features span lagoons, beaches and salt pans. The capital, Philipsburg, has cobblestone streets and colourful, colonial-style buildings lining its Front Street shopping area. The port is a popular cruise-ship stop.
Get the experience of visiting two island colonies in the same 37 square miles. Saint Maarten/Saint Martin's spicy marriage of Caribbean, French and Dutch cultures matches its physical diversity: the island is both urban and untamed, with rain forest-like landscapes, white beaches, and amazing caves and wildlife.
The Government of Sint Maarten and many private business owners are happy to place skilled professionals on a short-term or voluntary basis in roles that, in Europe, may be more difficult to achieve. Erasmus Caribbean has strong connections in Sint Maarten making intern placement easy. This enables participants to gain vital experience in their chosen field, useful for when they return to Europe.
